HOW WE STARTED
Every RUNClub season, our team hopes to do two things:
Back in 1999, RUNClub began through a tragic event: the loss of a mother from depression. This painful, life-altering event prompted our founder Jo Berry, into a passionate and heart-felt journey of connecting the dots between our mental and physical health, and movement. With two degrees: a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Bachelors of Arts in Literature (BA), Jo began the theoretical and practical journey that eventually led her to the creation of RUNClub; a proven method and life-altering modality of incorporating movement in our lives to strengthen our mental and physical health. Fuelled by a deep passion to help others and for preventative medicine, RUNClub has inspired thousands to move for a greater understanding into themselves and to empower themselves for better health and happiness.
RUNClub began with a small group of beginner runners and has expanded to include a dedicated team of coaches and a place and pace for everyone from walkers and 5K's to 10K's and half marathoners. The community has grown and strengthened to explore all there is to living a big, healthy, juicy life.
RUNClub is about so much MORE than running. Running is a conduit for vibrant health and there's lot of running at RUNClub; but it is also a place with a great sense of connection and community. From the beginning, RUNClub set out to be a different kind of running company: one that not only celebrated running and all it’s magic, but also a feeling of true connection. And today, that connection and running family is strong.
Our mission is to inspire and nurture the human spirit – each person, each heart and each soul, by putting one foot in front of the other. Our successful holistic health program enhances and contributes to our, and your: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. With every person, we strive to bring an exceptional change within them and thus, have the opportunity to experience life in the best way possible.
Today, with thousands of people going through the RUNclub program and the many testimonials we receive from every clinic, we can confidently say RUNClub works.

- highly motivational facilitation, coaching and training;
- opportunities to commune and live life together outside of running through things such as post-run coffees or beer nights (the first Tuesday of every month); potlucks, tail-gate parties and other fun gatherings; snowshoeing, yoga and other activities that celebrate the joy of movement and being together;
- high energy events including: local and fun runs such as Boogie the Bridge and Get Happy Events: Get Canadian, Get Corked and Get Spooked;
- local and international keynote speakers;
- multi-faceted workshops;
- organized road trips and so much more.
